Scottish firms Dundas & Wilson and Dorman Jeffrey & Co will merge to form a new Arthur Andersen-tied law firm.
Brian Dorman, managing partner of Dorman Jeffrey which linked up with Andersens in January 1996, said he expected to be on the executive board of the merged firm.
“For marketing purposes the name is being kept under wraps,” he said.
Andersens and Dundas will announce details of their link-up after the departure of Dundas' private client team, whose split will be effective from the end of August.
Andersens' Scotland managing partner Eric Hagman said that sorting out the legal documents was “taking longer than we expected” but claimed that “there haven't been hiccups”.
In Edinburgh all Dorman staff will move into Dundas & Wilsons' offices, while in Glasgow accommodation arrangements are still being finalised. Andersens' long-term aim is to house lawyers in its own offices in both cities.
