Sennhauser, who quit Freshfields in October 2007, has now arrived at A&O as a banking partner in the firm’s Milan office. He has brought with him three Freshfields senior associates, Domenico Gentile, Pietro Scarfone and Federico Sgubbi, as well as three other banking associates.
This significantly boosts A&O’s Milan banking presence, which last year lost banking partners Davide Mencacci to Linklaters and Giancarlo Castorino to Italian boutique MBL & Partners.
In response A&O transferred partner Paul Flanagan from London to Milan, but Sennhauser was the first high-profile hire for the new-look team (see www.thelawyer.com, 29 October 2007).
As part of A&O’s strategy to rebuild its offering in the peninsula, the magic circle firm is creating an Italy desk in London. This will be manned by Italian-qualified associates from A&O’s Italian offices.
