Slaughter and May has become the latest law firm to to benefit from Pernod Ricard’s £7.5bn bid for Allied Domecq.

Slaughters’ head of M&A Stephen Cooke is advising longstanding client US drinks giant Diageo on its acquisition of Bushmills, the Irish whiskey brand from Pernod Ricard for £200m.

As part of the deal, Diageo agreed to end any talks with third parties including Ashurst client Constellation Brands, which is considering launching a rival bid for Allied Domecq.

Linklaters and Macfarlanes are advising Allied Domecq and Pernod Ricard respectively.
