Halliwells and A&O win roles on NetServices acquisitionHalliwells and Allen & Overy (A&O) have landed roles on NetServices’ acquisition of Spanish telecoms company Telefónica’s UK subsidiary. Halliwells partner Ian Brent acted for NetServices, with Gary McLean of A&O for Telefónica. The deal will add £20m to NetServices’ turnover for the next 15 months, and will extend the company’s network. This starts a programme of acquisition for the company.

Freshfields scoops work from lenders on DLR extensionFreshfields Bruckhaus Deringer advised the Royal Bank of Scotland and European Investment Bank (EIB) as lenders on the £240m Docklands Light Railway (DLR) Woolwich extension. The sponsors, Amec Investments and Royal Bank Project Investments, were advised by Pinsent Masons. Ashurst advised DLR, while Allen & Overy provided advice on intercreditor and facility documentation to EIB.

Dentons handles Hitachi’s £250m deal with SRADenton Wilde Sapte, led by partner Naomi Horton, advised client Hitachi on a £250m deal with the Strategic Rail Authority (SRA). Hitachi will provide state-of-the-art high speed ‘Javelin’ trains to the SRA to operate on the Channel Tunnel Rail Link and lines in Kent. An operator for the Kent franchise will be announced later in the year. Allen & Overy advised HSBC rail, while Linklaters acted for the SRA.
