Spanish firm Cuatrecasas Gonçalves Pereira has announced a 7 per cent revenue hike for the 2008-09 financial year.

The Spanish firm grew revenue from €224.78m (£208.72m) in 2007-08 to €240.6m (£223.41m) last year.

The firm announced the figures last week (31 March) at the same time as promoting 26 to its partnership. Eight of those were made equity partner.

Cuatrecasas partner and management committee member Cani Fernandez said: “Despite the economic downturn we wanted to maintain good numbers of promotions for our firm. This is average for us and we see maintaining good numbers of promotions as important for our future.”

The promotions come after the firm expanded its international presence with launches in Shanghai and Casablanca last year.

Fernandez said: “Our aim over the next year is to work hard to strengthen our new offices in Shanghai and Casablanca. We don’t anticipate any further expansion into international markets.”

The firm’s healthy financial results come after Cuatrecasas restructured its entire firm, dividing it into four practice areas – corporate, finance-tax, labour and procedural.

Fernandez added that the firm will be focusing on counter-cyclical practices, including litigation, bankruptcy and restructuring, during the next year.
