In a survey of businesses in the north east, conducted by Newcastle firm Dickinson Dees in conjunction with accountants Coopers & Lybrand, 92 per cent of those approached admitted to late payment of their bills. Dickinsons senior partner Graham Wright said: “It is hoped that by making people more aware of the problems of late payment of debt we can help to bring about a business culture which looks towards profitability for all, and which sees payment on time as the norm rather than unusual.”
