Allen & Overy (A&O) is continuing to cash in on the Asian securities market by recruiting a specialist partner to its Hong Kong office.
David Johnson joins from the Hong Kong office of US practice Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton, where he has been for the past six years.
His appointment comes only two months after A&O recruited its first Singapore-based US securities partner, Ken Aboud, from Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe‘s Singapore office (The Lawyer, 13 November).
There has been a steady increase in the amount of securities work in Asia during recent months.
At the end of last year, Clifford Chance extended its securities capability, based in Hong Kong, to Singapore and eventually Tokyo (The Lawyer, 18 December).
Johnson, who represents issuers and underwriters, will join fellow A&O securities partner Peter Curley in Hong Kong.
