An East Sussex jeweller who designed and made a £160,000 golden gun encrusted with diamonds is being sued by a company which invested money in the gun. Goldsmith Edward Evans made the unique Colt .45 pistol with gold and diamond fittings, and sold a one third share in it to jewellery consultants Grant Walker for £20,000 in October 1992, according to a writ just issued against him. The writ says the company agreed to take the pistol to Oman to sell it, but it was impounded by Customs officials, although subsequently

recovered. North London-based Grant Walker claims that Evans sold the pistol but only paid it £12,500; Grant Walker values it at £160,000. Now the company is suing over alleged failure to pay it a proper share of profits.

A row between two rival egg producers is heading for the High Court. East Sussex egg producers John and Carol Jewett are suing rival egg producer Martin Pitt of Wiltshire for damages after losing some of their sales contracts. The Jewetts, of Robertsbridge, East Sussex, claim they had an exclusive contract to supply free range eggs to Selfridges Food Hall and also supplied 10 branches of Pizza Express. However, they accuse Pitt of deliberately disparaging their business, and claim that as a result they have lost the exclusive contract with Selfridges and the custom of six of the 10 Pizza Express branches. They are suing for damages claiming that they have lost profits of £9,828 a year as a result of his

actions.
