CHAIR of the British Polish Legal Association Russell Denoon Duncan has received an Officers Cross of the Order of Merit from the Polish government for his work with the bi-lateral organisation.
Denoon Duncan, former senior partner at City firm Cameron Markby Hewitt, has chaired the association for the past five years.
He has been involved with many of the group's initiatives including placement programmes which bring Polish lawyers to practice in firms and chambers in the UK.
Now a consultant at CMH, Denoon Duncan says he will step down as chair later this year, but will remain active in the six-year-old association.
“It's a good idea to get new blood involved.”
He says the association was set up “very quickly” following the overthrow of the authoritarian regime, and its work has been “much appreciated” by the Poles.
“It has made a significant impact on the way in which the Polish legal profession has adjusted to a market economy. And it has made a significant contribution to British/Polish relationships,” he says.
