An inn of court

An Islington pub is at the centre of a pending High Court confrontation between Lady Jane Blom-Cooper and the borough council. Lady Jane claims that she bought the u300,000 Southgate Arms in July 1998 with the intention of turning it into a private home. In a writ against the council, she claims that searches prior to the deal going through failed to reveal that the property had been included in the Arlington Square Conservation Area in 1994. She accuses the council of breaching its statutory duties and seeks damages for losses she claims she has suffered as a result. She is represented in her claim by Sheridans.
