Manches has launched a marketing initiative to target work from oligarchs in the Russian Federation, the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and Ukraine.

A new international wealth protection group will be chaired by family partner James Stewart, who will be joined by six partners, including head of private clients Colin Russell, corporate partner Felicity Jones and litigation partner Clive Zeitman.

Stewart said: “This is to build on the considerable success we’ve had acting for relocating Russian businesses and acting for private clients from Russia and the CIS.”

The group will be launched in May with a specific focus on wealthy and international clients and international enforcement.

Manches’ family practice spearheaded the growth of the firm’s Russian client base after being instructed to act for two Russian oligarchs on family and wealth protection matters in 2007.

“We’re the first firm to enter that marketplace with specific focus on private clients and family,” said Stewart. “There’s a huge amount of wealth administration coming into London from Russia and we want to be there.”

The firm has developed links with AGA Partners in Kiev and Catherine Kalaschnikova, an independent divorce specialist with The Moscow Bar of Arbitration Lawyers.
