Life after law: Family man

Eleven years on, Black is the founder of My Family Care, which offers employee benefits services from training to emergency childcare.

Eight years ago Black’s brother Oliver approached him with a business proposition. Oliver then worked for Procter & Gamble and said the company would “bend over backwards” to provide benefits such as childcare services to employees. It was a serious growth market.

The duo bought Tinies Childcare Agency, a small provider of nursing and childcare staff, and grew it into the UK’s largest supplier of on-demand childcare and after-school services.

Tinies is now just one of several businesses owned by the brothers and boasts a client list including Herbert Smith and Linklaters.

So it is little surprise that when asked whether he would go back to the law, Black says it is not for him, adding: “I don’t think they’d have me, to be honest.”
