Pinsents knocks DLA off AIM top spot (cont.)

Pinsent Masons has overtaken AIM heavyweights DLA Piper and Norton Rose to become the top legal advisor for clients on the junior market.

As reported in The Lawyer today (4 August), the latest Hemscott rankings show that Pinsents has gained three AIM clients in the last three months, representing 59 companies.

With six additions to its roster since the start of the year, the firm now has the fastest growing AIM practice in the top 10.

Norton Rose slipped from first to third place, losing seven AIM clients since May, while DLA Piper kept second spot despite dropping five companies.

In the last three months, Pinsents has picked up clients including Johnson Service Group, which runs the high street drycleaning chain, and digital marketing specialist Tangent Communications.

Pinsents corporate partner Jon Harris said: “We continue to attract clients from overseas together with UK-based businesses in a variety of sectors seeking admission to AIM.”

Both DLA Piper and Norton Rose were hit by the loss of audio company Imagesound, which delisted from AIM in May, while Norton Rose also saw client Finance Ireland opt out of the junior market.

Norton Rose also fell down the table for top 100 AIM clients. The firm said goodbye to two clients and dropped from first to fourth in the rankings, joining DLA Piper, Macfarlanes and Travers Smith on four AIM 100 companies.

Cains retained its top spot through its status as offshore tax adviser, representing seven AIM 100 clients.

In the rankings for AIM clients by market capitalisation, Lawrence Graham moved to the top of the table ahead of Norton Rose which slipped to second.

Third-placed Jones Day leapt four places from seventh and seeing the market value of its clients rise by more than a quarter to £4.5bn.
