Clifford Chance‘s international head of securitisation and the former head of the firm’s London practice group has resigned.
John Woodhall is leaving the firm after 23 years. He announced his decision to Clifford Chance’s partners last Wednesday (30 July). It is not clear where Woodhall is moving to, although he is understood to be considering a number of opportunities.
His departure, first re-vealed on www.the lawyer. com/lawyernews (31 July), was announced just two weeks after partner Kevin Ingram scooped the role of London head of securitisation, winning out against rivals Peter Voisey and Peter Taylor.
Woodhall had decided to step down from leading the London group in May. He was appointed as its head last year, taking over from Chris Oakley, but this was understood to be an interim measure.
Meanwhile, Woodhall’s position as international head of securitisation – a role he took on when he returned to London in 1999 after acting as regional managing partner for Asia – was also formalised.
Unlike practice area or regional heads, this was not a position that was written into Clifford Chance’s constitution. It is not yet clear, therefore, whether the firm will seek a replacement for the role following Woodhall’s departure.
He has been a partner at Clifford Chance since 1988.
