Camerons lures London head of IP from Howrey

CMS Cameron McKenna has made a rare lateral hire, scooping Howrey’s renowned London IP head Isabel Davies.

Davies becomes the firm’s second lateral hire in two years, joining as a senior partner in the IP practice.

Camerons IP head Nick Beckett will still lead the seven-partner practice. Davies’s role will involve business development and mentoring the more junior lawyers in the IP group, as well as contentious patent and trademark work for clients such as mining tools manufacturer Terex.

Davies said Camerons’ network in Eastern Europe was a key reason for joining the firm. “Eastern Europe is becoming increasingly important and CMS has a good spread, particularly in Russia and Poland,” she said.

Davies added that the move will also help diversify her client base: “The conflict situation is different with a full-service and a litigation firm. I feel future opportunities will be more easy to exploit,” she said.

Camerons’ last lateral hire was partner Nicholas Stretch, who joined from Norton Rose at the beginning of the year.
