The US jazz composer Illinois Jacquet is accusing UK record company Charly Records of breaching his copyright in the jazz number Philharmonic Blues. Jacquet claims that Charly used the number on its CD Jazz At The Philharmonic – The Beginning without his consent. He is seeking an order banning Charly from producing any CDs or cassettes that include the number, an order that the record company hands over to him any records that infringe his copyright, and a court inquiry into damages he claims he is entitled to.
