Atlanta-based Troutman Sanders is planning a move into the London insurance market following the firm’s merger with US insurance boutique Ross Dixon & Bell. London managing partner Robert Bata has pledged to hire “aggressively” in the sector following the move.Troutman Sanders’ three-partner City outfit does not currently have an insurance capability. “Having this kind of gold-plated insurance practice in the US means there’s going to be a London element,” said Bata. “The London insurance market’s very vibrant.” Since taking over in October last year Bata has vowed to expand the City office and is looking to recruit in the corporate and energy trading groups. Troutman Sanders opened in London in 2001 with a focus on energy and emissions trading.
