Music industry association IFPI has ended its year-long search for a general counsel, promoting litigation head Jo Oliver to the top job.
The position had been vacant since April last year after former general counsel Geoff Taylor joined associated music industry group BPI as chief executive.
A spokesperson for IFPI said the legal group had functioned ;without ;a general counsel for a year.
Oliver has headed IFPI’s litigation department since October 2006 and was responsible for the organisation’s global litigation programme against music piracy. As general counsel she will make anti-piracy enforcement a priority, particularly in jurisdictions such as Russia and China.
In her new role she will also take responsibility for litigation, regulatory and corporate legal affairs at the organisation.
