Addleshaws loses IP partner as FFW swoops

Field Fisher Waterhouse (FFW) has boosted its IP litigation practice with the hire of Hamish Porter, who becomes the second partner to leave Addleshaw Goddard this month.

Porter focuses on IP litigation for media and entertainment clients and his hire takes FFW’s IP litigation team to 15 partners across Europe.

Addleshaws managing partner Mark Jones said: “It was Hamish’s choice to leave. In essence he reflected on what he wanted to do with the next phase of his career.

“This business has an IP focus that it will maintain and develop.”

Porter said: “I was keen to join a firm with IP at the forefront of its strategy.”

Earlier in the month Withers swooped for Addleshaws media and public law partner Jennifer McDermott.

Jones said the two departures were “factually not linked”.

He added that the firm was now on the hunt for a lateral replacement for Porter.

“While it was Hamish’s choice to leave, we’ll look to replace him,” he said.
