•North West firm Scott Rees & Co has appointed Maria Lloyd as a trainee bilingual paralegal. Lloyd was previously a company solicitor and barrister at Weld in Russia and is currently completing a two-year conversion course at BPP Law School in Manchester.

•Ashton Graham Solicitors has appointed Linda Osborn as head of its Ipswich residential conveyancing team. She joins from Burnett Barker.

•hlw Commercial Lawyers has made three appointments in Leeds: Claire Murphy joins as a commercial property partner from Ricksons, Marcus Armstrong joins as an corporate finance associate from Hammonds and Helen Bates joins as an insolvency assistant from Keeble Hawson.

Wedlake Bell has expanded its corporate team by hiring Tim Bird from Dechert as a partner. The firm has also promoted Tony Lane to the partnership.

Napthens has appointed Allan Sumner as head of the corporate and commercial division. He was previously the firm’s marketing partner. He is replaced in that role by commercial property partner Mike Fetherstone.

Boyes Turner has appointed Adrian Toutoungi as an associate in the commercial and technology team. He joins from Linklaters, where he was a managing associate.

•Denton Wilde Sapte has recruited two lawyers for its planning and public law team from Dundas & Wilson. They are Victoria Leam and Sally Carnachan, who join as an associate and non-admitted fee-earner respectively.

Withy King has hired Jessica Bent as head of the firm’s technology and media practice. Bent joins as an associate from TLT Solicitors in Bristol.

•Williamsons Solicitors has promoted Jim Suthers to the partnership in the personal injury team. Graham Nettleton, who heads the firm’s wills and probate service, has recently been appointed as a notary public.

McDermott Will & Emery has hired partner Abbe Lowell as head of its white-collar criminal defence practice in Washington DC. He joins from Chadbourne & Parke.

•Milbank Tweed Hadley & McCloy has appointed corporate and business litigation specialist Alan Stone as a partner in New York. Stone joins from Morris Nichols Arsht & Tunnell.

•Venable has hired real estate finance and development specialist Ralph Miles as a partner to direct the firm’s real estate work in New York. Miles was previously with McCarter & English.
