A trio of US elite firms are working pro bono to answer questions from US voters during the election.
Lawyers from Davis Polk & Wardwell, Kirkland & Ellis and Simpson Thacher & Bartlett will be manning the phones to address questions and concerns from the electorate as part of the Election Protection scheme, which is operating at various call centres throughout the US.
Each firm is responsible for a specific number of lines servicing various states. Davis Polk lawyers are taking calls from New York City voters, Kirkland is fielding queries in New York state and San Francisco while Simpson Thacher is answering calls from New Jersey and other states.
Election Protection is the largest non-partisan voter protection coalition in the US and is geared towards helping disenfranchised voters.
While Davis Polk and Simpson Thacher are newcomers to the scheme, Kirkland was previously involved in the 2004 and 2006 elections.
