Norton Rose makes French connection with securities head

NORTON Rose has recruited a leading in-house lawyer from France to head its new international securities group.

Gilles Thieffry has joined the firm from BNP Capital Markets where he headed the legal department.

Thieffry, who has extensive experience in the eurobond markets will spearhead the development of the firm's business in international capital markets and equities.

The aim of the new group is to provide clients with an integrated approach to securities products.

It will draw on the experience of several partners and two associates have already been 'ear-marked' to join the team.

“The group will provide Norton Rose clients with the professionalism of an integrated team, covering the full spectrum of securities products through a truly multi-cultural approach,” he says.

Managing partner Roger Birkby describes Thieffry as “a highly regarded professional who will enhance our knowledge of the markets and increase our profile in an area of strategic importance”.
