Baker & McKenzie has appointed Graham Stuart as a corporate partner to lead the firm’s climate change and environmental practice in London. Stuart was previously at Norton Rose.

•David Salmons has joined Bingham McCutchen as a partner in the Washington DC office’s national litigation practice. He was previously an assistant to the US Solicitor General.

•The London Criminal Courts Solicitors’ Association has elected Tan Ikram as its 36th president. Ikram is a consultant at ABV Solicitors in West London.

•Walsall-based firm Enoch Evans has made two internal partnership promotions: Emma Birch, who specialises in matrimonial law, and Sukie Shemar, who specialises in commercial law.

•Birmingham and London firm Martineau Johnson has made up Ben Thornber as a new partner within its employment and pensions group.

•Worcestershire and West Midlands firm Harrison Clark Solicitors has appointed commercial litigator Andrew Spooner as a partner in its business services department. He was previously a specialist litigation consultant to Averta Employment Lawyers.

•Old Square Chambers has appointed Christopher Edwards as a new tenant. Claire Bowsher-Murray and Charlie Sparling also join the set as pupils.

•Leeds-based commercial firm Lupton Fawcett has recruited three assistants to its commercial property team: Ian Buckett joins from O’Rourke Reid in Leeds, Steven Plummer joins from Kirkland & Lane in Nottingham and Anil Champaneri joins from Turner Parkinson in Manchester.

•Humphrey Halford has joined Wright Hassall in Leamington Spa as an associate in its commercial property department from Arnold Thomson in Towcester.

•Julie Bishop will start at the Law Centres Federation as its new director from early 2008. Bishop was previously director of the National Association of Community Legal Centres in Sydney, Australia.

•Stephen Ellis has joined Boote Edgar Esterkin in Manchester as a partner and head of real estate. He joins from DWF. He has also recruited four associates to the real estate team: Catherine Fosbrook is joining from DWF, Debbie Lewis is joining from Merrill Lynch, Helen Thomasson is joining from Cobbetts and Anna Byrne is joining from Eversheds.

•South Wales firm Hutchinson Thomas has recruited Helen Van Willegen as an assistant in its commercial property practice from Bridgend County Borough Council, where she was head of the legal department’s commercial section.

•Manchester law firm Rowlands Solicitors has made 11 appointments to strengthen its growing team. The commercial property practice has recruited assistants Helen O’Neill from Gorvins; Joanne Evans from Halliwells. The IT department has also taken on Danny McGrath from Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer to head IT development across the practice and Tony Wong from Compal Europe (UK) as IT manager to work alongside McGrath.

•Southampton firm Eric Robinson Solicitors has promoted three assistants to associate level. Noel Roberts has been promoted in the criminal team, while Angela Pelleschi and Christopher Bird have been promoted in the wills and probate team.

RadcliffesLeBrasseur has hired Michael Farrelly as a partner to its employment team. Farrelly joins from Constant & Constant, where he was a partner and head of the employment unit.

•Curtis Mallet-Prevost Colt & Mosle has hired Gabriela Alvarez-Avila as counsel to its international arbitration group. She was previously senior counsel to the World Bank Group’s International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes.

•Dale Williams has joined Warwickshire firm Lodders Solicitors as an associate working in the commercial law team. He was previously at Harvey Ingram in Birmingham.

•Davies Lavery has appointed Janine Clark and Peter Blake as assistants in its London accident and injury team. Clark joins from TH Global, where she was an in-house lawyer. Blake joins from Plexus Law.

•Paul Hastings Janofsky & Walker has recruited Michelle English, who was previously at Kirkland & Ellis, as a partner in the private equity practice in its London office.

•Peter von Czettritz has joined German firm Preu Bohlig & Partner in Munich as a partner in its IT practice from Harms & Melzer.

•German firm GSK Stockmann & Kollegen has recruited partner Eike Dirk Eschenfelder from Shearman & Sterling in Mannheim, where he was a senior associate.

•Private client firm Wilsons has appointed Karin Parfitt as an associate in its litigation team. She joins from Clarkson Wright & Jakes in Kent.

•Clarion Solicitors has appointed three newly qualified assistants. The trio, all of whom were previously on training contracts with the firm, are Laura Mitchell, Hannah Montague and Stephanie Thirlwell.
