Clifford Chance is the last magic circle firm to drop its shipping practice with Holman Fenwick & Willan picking up the one-partner team.

The departures follow a review of Clifford Chance’s litigation department in January which has concluded with the team’s exit.

A Clifford Chance spokesperson said: “The decision to stop undertaking shipping litigation is a further step towards aligning the work of the litigation team with the firm’s clients.”

Head of shipping Mark Morrison will join Holman Fenwick as a partner with his three-strong team, which includes associates Judith Prior, Sarra Kay and Amanda Rathbone, Morrison’s clients, including marine companies and marine insurance clubs, are expected to follow him to HFW.

Morrison, who has been with Clifford Chance for 26 years and a partner for 14, will join Holman Fenwick in January.
