Hammonds dragged to Court of Appeal

The bitter dispute between Hammonds and former partner David Jones could be close to reaching a conclusion as the Court of Appeal prepares to hear
the case.

Jones was one of a group of former partners who fought a court battle with the firm relating to overdrawn profits. Although the other partners settled with the firm, Jones did not.

Jones is appealing a High Court decision that ruled the former partners were bound by the firm’s partnership deed, with a court date set for December.
A source close to the matter said: “The court must think there’s a reasonable case here, otherwise an appeal date wouldn’t have been set.”

The news comes as Hammonds continues to wrangle with a group of former and current partners over the lease obligations on the Bradford office used by
its spun-off conveyancing business Hammonds Direct.
