Mintz Levin acquires boutique for Palo Alto launch

Boston firm Mintz Levin Cohn Ferris Glovsky and Popeo has launched in Palo Alto, taking over patent filing boutique Reed Intellectual Property Law Group.

The acquisition is part of a push into California, with Mintz Levin planning to bolster its office in Los Angeles.

Mintz Levin’s move follows that of other Boston-based firms such as WilmerHale and Ropes & Gray who opened in Palo Alto last year.

The Reed IP Group, led by biotech specialist Dianne Reed, brings a client roster including Bayer Healthcare and the California Institute of Technology.

Reed will take a three partner team with her on 1 May, consisting of Carol Schneider, Flavio Rose and Karen Canaan.
