Fox Williams is to launch a separate pensions practice with the hire of partner Ian Greenstreet from Hammonds.

The firm currently has only one partner in this area, Mark Watson, who handles a mix of employment and pensions work, but is part of the employment team. Senior partner Ronnie Fox said: “Recruiting a pensions partner fits in with our business strategy because of the synergies with our employment group.”

Watson will continue to handle some employment work, but the firm will also look to further boost numbers if the newly launched group is successful. “It’s one step at a time,” said Greestreet, “but the objective is to build it up if it goes well. There’s also pensions litigation capability already, which we’re hoping to build.”

Greenstreet has been a partner at Hammonds since 2000, prior to which he was at Simmons & Simmons. Andrew Powell, head of the Hammonds pensions team, said: “Ian has been a valued member of our team over the past three years and we’re sorry to see him go. We wish him every success for the future.”
