Garrigues has become the first Spanish firm to break through the quarter billion euro mark, ending this financial year 16 per cent up on last year with revenues of €259m.

The firm has also promoted 24 associates to its partnership, boosting the firm’s total partner number to 230.

The firm’s Madrid office received nine new partners, three of which are corporate specialists, two in litigation and one each in areas such as tax and competition law.

Corporate associate Guillermo Munoz-Alonso, who is expected to be based in the firm’s hotly awaited London office, also made partner in this round of promotions.

Ten of the firm’s 25 domestic offices had associates promoted to partnership, including Barcelona, Bilbao and Seville. Partners approved the promotions at a Madrid meeting last week.
