Eversheds wins E&Y tax partner

Graham Morgan will join Eversheds‘ Birmingham office as part of the corporate tax team.
The firm claims that its decision to appoint an accountant from Ernst & Young is proof of its dedication to a multidisciplinary approach.
Eversheds head of tax Tom Daltry said: “Our team already includes solicitors, barristers, accountants and VAT consultants, and Morgan’s appointment brings valuable big five experience to complement our skills firmwide, consistent with the multidisciplinary approach we’ve adopted.”
Morgan’s expertise includes foreign inward investment, major capital projects and tax planning for UK and US multinationals. However, Morgan said that tax advice tends to be required when the fundamentals of corporate deals have been established, and he believes that as transactions shift towards a more client-led approach, tax issues will need to be incorporated from the beginning.
“This means we need to become involved with clients much earlier on in the process and deliver total solutions which integrate the accountant’s and the lawyer’s skills,” said Morgan. “This is the key advantage of the multidisciplinary approach that we’re pioneering at Eversheds.”
