Birmingham’s St Philips Chambers has been hit with the loss of a leading child care barrister who has joined One King’s Bench Walk in London.
It is understood that David Hershman QC has made the move to practice in a smaller set that has a more specialist focus on family law. A recognised leader in his field, Hershman along with Andrew McFarlane QC who is a member of his new set, co-wrote ‘The Children Act Handbook 2003’.
St Philips is Britain’s second largest chambers after its local rival 5 Fountain Court. Last year the set posted a huge jump in revenues for the last financial year to £18.3m, signalling a 93 per cent rise in gross since 2000.
Hershman was not available for comment.
