Anthony Grabiner QC's specialist commercial chambers at 1 Essex Court has produced a new-style chambers brochure in an effort to meet the growing request from instructing solicitors for detailed information.

The brochure, which provides information on all 48 tenants, including scope of practice and experience, runs to over 60 pages. It was produced in-house on the set's desktop publishing system and, said Grabiner, is intended "to ensure clients have a full understanding of what is on offer".

Joint senior clerk Paul Shrubsall said: "We believe this to be the most detailed and comprehensive chambers brochure ever produced. For some time we have been aware of the need to provide clients with relevant and detailed information about barristers in these chambers.

"We are delighted with the result and believe it to be a real benefit for our clients and a necessity for chambers."

The brochure, also available on disk, won a warm response from several firms which instruct chambers. Michael Smith, litigation partner at Clifford Chance, said: "When solicitors retain barristers they engage in a process which is in part intuitive. That said, the more information about barristers that can be reduced to written detail the better. This brochure is one of the best such examples I have seen."

The brochure was also welcomed by Paul Mitchard, litigation partner at Simmons & Simmons. "The brochure is symptomatic of this particular set's progressive approach to marketing in a way which recognises the needs of solicitors in serving their own clients," he said.
