Addleshaws uses X-Factor style ‘VoxBox’ to impress trainees

Addleshaw Goddard is planning to launch what is arguably the most novel graduate recruitment initiative to date.

The firm will tour its target universities and law fairs with an X-Factor-style video booth dubbed the ‘VoxBox’.

Students can use the booth, which is being specially built for Addleshaws, to put questions to the firm’s graduate recruitment team or to hear its lawyers share experiences of securing training contracts.

The footage will be turned into a video, which will be available on the firm’s graduate recruitment website.

Addleshaws has the most technologically advanced graduate recruitment system of any UK firms and was the first firm to make trainee podcasts available on its recruitment website.

Brett Galloway, head of graduate recruitment at Addleshaws, said the advantage of podcasts was that they could be delivered straight to students’ MP3 players.

Although podcasts and vodcasts (online video programmes) are new to graduate recruitment, trainee blogs are common. But there are problems.

Watson Farley & Williams became the first City firm to launch a trainee blog, which ended in disaster when bloggers pilloried the site as trite nonsense about how great it is to work for the firm.
