The Law Society’s send-off for its recently departed president Andrew Holroyd may not have quite lived up to his expectations.
According to one of Tulkinghorn’s ever-watchful moles, newly appointed president Paul Marsh told dinner guests that Holroyd wanted “a true Scouser party” to say goodbye to the Law Society.
Unfortunately, there was no Beatles cover band or attendees walking around in shellsuits or tracksuit bottoms – although Lord Chief Justice Lord Phillips’ white dinner jacket reportedly added some flair to proceedings.
In keeping with Scouse tradition, however, the drinks were flowing. Tulkinghorn is assured that the quantities were sufficient to prompt more than one guest to see Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds.
