The first transatlantic merger of the year is going ahead after partners at Nicholson Graham & Jones and Kirkpatrick & Lockhart voted through a tie-up.
The merger goes live on 1 January 2005, creating a 950-lawyer firm spanning 10 US cities and London. It will be known as Kirkpatrick & Lockhart Nicholson Graham, with Kirkpatrick’s Peter Kalis and Michael Johns of Nicholsons serving as joint chairmen. It expects to exceed $500m (£279m) in revenue in its first year.
The link-up comes just ahead of DLA’s merger with Piper Rudnick and Gray Cary Ware & Freidenrich. DLA will ballot partners on 23 October.
