Mitsui Yasuda yields more lawyers for Orrick

Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe picked up its second partner from Japan’s Mitsui Yasuda Wani & Maeda.

Yoshitada Ogiso will join the US firm’s Japanese branch Orrick Tokyo Law Offices, where he will be reunited with former colleague Masami Totani and four corporate associates who moved from Mitsui Yasuda earlier this month.

The rump of Mitsui Yasuda joined Linklaters in July, as new laws came into force in Japan, allowing foreign and local “bengoshi” lawyers to from a unified partnership.

The magic circle took on two name partners and more than 20 lawyers from the firm while the rest have scattered between domestic or US firms.
