LeBoeuf Lamb Greene & MacRae has made its second partner hire from Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer’s Paris office in three months, as Yves Huyghé de Mahenge joins the US firm.
Corporate star de Mahenge became a consultant at Freshfields on 1 November after taking advantage of the changes to the firm’s pensions scheme, but swiftly made the move to LeBoeuf as a partner. He rejoins former colleague Eric Schwartz, who left for LeBoeuf in September.
Freshfields’ Paris managing partner Jean-Claude Cotoni said de Mahenge had agreed with the firm to work part-time as a consultant before “choosing another life”. He added: “I would like to thank Yves for his unique contribution to the success of the Paris office.”
De Mahenge helped build up Freshfields’ French offering, and was also the founding partner of the firm’s Italian office.
He has also played a part in the wider French legal world, sitting as a council member at the Paris Bar from 2003 to 2005, before failing in his bid for re-election in December 2005.
De Mahenge’s hire brings the number of partners in LeBoeuf’s French office to eight, including insurance partner William Marcoux who splits his time between Paris and London.
