Allen & Overy has hooked up with JP Morgan spin-off Cygnifi to provide an online legal risk management service.
The firm’s involvement is part of an ongoing relationship with JP Morgan.
New York-based Cygnifi was established in February when a team left JP Morgan to set up the venture. JP Morgan is an investor in the company.
The latest collaboration, named Trinity, is particularly lucrative for A&O. As well as being part of the online offering – which it hopes will increase its brand recognition – it has also charged for working on the project.
The firm hopes Trinity will prolong relationships with JP Morgan following its merger with Chase Manhattan.
A&O associate Julie Spencer, who worked on the Trinity deal, says the firm is already talking to Chase about forthcoming instructions.
Trinity will enable subscribers to access legal memoranda on collateral enforceability via the internet.
