Barlow Lyde & Gilbert (BLG) London professional liability chief Simon Konsta will replace Richard Dedman as senior partner, the firm announced today (29 May).
Konsta was appointed following a contested election, and will shadow Dedman until he officially takes up the new post later this year.
Dedman, who stood down two years into his second five year term, said he was proud of how BLG had developed over his tenure.
“After seven years at the helm, I think the time is right to hand over to a successor who can build on what we have achieved with fresh perspectives and energies,” said Dedman.
Konsta paid tribute to Dedman. He said the outgoing senior partner had been instrumental in the firm’s expansion in its corporate and commercial practices as well as commercial litigation.
“These initiatives have set the firm in excellent stead for the future,” Konsta said. “The firm has some very exciting opportunities ahead, in London, Asia and internationally.”
Dedman, who will be returning to full-time fee earning this autumn, will be the last senior partner to have held the post for a five-year term.
Once the reins are handed over to Konsta the term will be reduced to three years, with incumbents allowed to service no more than two terms.
