Fifty-year-old Covent Garden-based insurance litigation practice Alistair Thomson & Partners is understood to be planning to dissolve in September with all five equity partners going their separate ways.
Michael Lent is believed to be going to Hammond Suddards, Martin Butterworth to Davies Arnold Cooper and practice development manager David Hartfield to be setting up on his own.
It is believed 34-years-qualified senior partner Alistair Simpson may retire but the plans of the other equity partner Alistair Cornforth are not yet clear.
One salaried partner, Robert John, has already left.
Butterworth said “professional reasons” prevented him from confirming the move, but that there would be an announcement in one to two months.
The firm was founded in 1947.
