Ashurst plans to shed 15 secretarial jobs” />Ashurst has launched a redundancy consultation that could see up to 15 secretaries lose their jobs.
All of those affected are in the firm’s London office and are part of the firm’s evening and floating teams, which deal with overflow work.
In a statement the firm said: “We’re in the course of a consultation process to make a small number of secretaries redundant in accordance with business need.”
In an unrelated move, The Lawyer reported last week that Ashurst is set to cull up to 10 equity partners .
It is understood that seven London equity partners and three overseas equity partners have lost their jobs in the firm’s finance, corporate, commercial and projects teams (TheLawyer.com, 21 January 2009).
A source at the firm said that no additional fee-earning staff or offices are currently engaged in redundancy programmes.
