Norr Stiefenhofer Lutz has raided Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer for the second time this month.
Norr Stiefenhofer Lutz has hired Russia specialist Thomas Mundry from Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer’s Moscow office.
Norr Stiefenhofer Lutz’s managing partner Hans-Peter Zier told The Lawyer: “With Freshfields’ leading Moscow partner Kirsten Floss returning to Germany, it seems as if the firm is de-focusing its attentions away from German investors in Moscow.”
A Freshfields spokespeson said that the firm has maintained five partners in Moscow over the last two years and that the firm is busy and has no plans to scale back in Moscow.
Former Freshfields’ associate Mundry will join the Moscow arm of the German firm on October 1, as a local partner specialising in M&A, real estate and international tax law.
Mundry said: “Norr Stiefenhofer Lutz is a very well known German law firm and has a very broad range of clients, both international and domestic. Unlike Freshfields, the firm does not just focus on transactional business but provides a full service including anti-trust, real estate and labour tax work.”
Earlier this month the firm poached capital markets partner Eckhard Martin from the magic circle firm. Martin joined the Frankfurt office.
