easyGroup has filled its head of IP role, hiring Anthony Robb-John as managing director of easyGroup IP from mobile content company Monstermob Group.

Robb-John was head of legal at Monstermob and will take up his new position at the start of December, reporting to easyGroup founder Stelios Haji-Ioannou.

His role is commercial, rather than purely legal. Legal head Della Burnside will remain responsible for IP disputes.

“This is a proper MD role,” said Robb-John, “my aim will be to get the best out of the profit margins and market share.”

He said: “This is the outcome of a career advising on IP in respect of adding value.”

easyGroup IP owns and manages the brand licences between easyGroup and the operators of the 16 different franchises, including easyJet, easyCar and easyHotel.

Previously Robb-John was a senior associate at Cobbetts and head of legal at Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? producer Celador Productions.
