DLA Piper has successful defended Pakistan cricket captain Inzamam-ul-Haq against ball tampering charges.
Inzamam was found not guilty of ball tampering, but guilty of bringing the game of cricket into disrepute following the Pakistan team’s sit-in protest during the Fourth Test against England at The Brit Oval last month.
DLA Piper sports specialist Mark Gay, corporate defence director Simon Airey and senior associate Waseem Khokhar represented Inzamam at the hearing before senior International Cricket Council (ICC) referee Ranjan Madugalle.
Inzamam has been handed a ban of four one-day matches, which will rule him out of the early stages of the forthcoming ICC Champions Trophy tournament in India.
Blackstone Chambers’ David Pannick QC advised Madugalle during the hearing.
Olswang head of commercial litigation David Stewart advised the ICC.
