Boston firm Bingham Dana is taking on a finance partner from Mayer Brown & Platt to boost its New York practice.
Scott Zemser does both banking and finance work, as well as workouts and restructurings. His financial institution clients include Société Generale, DLJ, ING Barings, Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, First Union and HSBC.
Managing partner Jay Zimmerman says: “Bingham has worked with a lot of those clients regularly, so getting Scott to join us enhances our relationship with those clients.”
The firm, which is traditionally strong in finance and restructuring, is building up an international finance practice after merging last year with Hebb & Gitlin, one of the world’s premier bankruptcy firms.
Zimmerman says: “We’re in the midst of building a very strong global finance practice. We have a very strong history in terms of finance, and Hebb & Gitlin has a very strong history with insurance companies. New York and London, then, are the keys to this market, and this acquisition adds a real talent in New York.”
