DWF HRhorizons launches executive resourcing division

In a move thought to be a first for UK law firms, regional firm Davies Wallis Foyster (DWF) has launched an executive resourcing division in a bid to increase the services it can offer its clients.

The new division, headed by executive resourcing specialist Deborah Telford and supported by resourcing manager Caroline Lloyd, will aid businesses to source and secure executives at director and manager level.
DWF business development partner Nigel Wallis said that the innovation is good for the firm because it is good for clients. He said: “It’s all part of solving client problems. Companies may be having difficulty growing because they can’t attract the right people.”
The scheme is able to provide short-term solutions in the form of interim management or permanent staff via its executive search and recruit ability. The latter involves hand-picking specific people for senior management roles.
Wallis said: “All this is part of a package of services for clients. We can help with the interview process as well as legal issues such as the contract of employment, pensions and share options.”
Where necessary, the firm will also liaise with the Overseas Labour Service and Home Office to oBTain work permits.
The new division is part of DWF HRhorizons – DWF’s comprehensive single source support service for human resources professionals in business. MBA students for businesses are accessed through the firm’s alliance with Lancaster University Business School.
“I am not aware of any other law firms doing anything like this, and this demonstrates that we’re in touch with the future of businesses,” said Wallis. “It also means our clients do not need to juggle different companies because we can deal with their human resource and legal issues.”
Andrew Leaitherland, DWF partner and head of human resources, said: “We recognised that the old ways of delivering legal services and support to human resources professionals and businesses are neither in touch with the present demands of the marketplace, nor delivered by the most cost effective means.”
