Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe has struck an innovative outsourcing deal in the US that will see 35 employees transfer to business process outsouring provider Williams Lea.
Orrick’s partnership with Williams Lea goes live on 14 November. The pair will work together on marketing outsourcing services to other law firms.
“Our two firms share a vision for a basket of services we can provide from the Global Operations Center,” said Ralph Baxter, chairman and CEO of Orrick.
Under the terms of the deal, all of Orrick’s word processing, transcription and document services currently handled out of its global operations centre in Wheeling, West Virginia will transfer to Williams Lea’s new corporate information centre.
Orrick still employs about 100 people in Wheeling, providing finance, technology, payroll, benefits, human resources, marketing and web engineering services. It will continue marketing these services to other law firms, as first revealed by The Lawyer (4 July 2005).
“For the same reasons Orrick has sought to consolidate its document and transactional processes in Wheeling, Williams Lea envisions the new Corporate Information Center as a strong platform for serving the corporate information needs of many of our global clients,” said Williams Lea CEO Tim Griffiths. “We anticipate that building on the strengths of this enterprise will lead to further expansion of the facility and an ever greater contribution to the Wheeling economy.”
