Hansard sales drop blamed on overpricing

Sales of Hansard, the official record of parliamentary debate, are plummeting because it is overpriced, says a report published last week. Acts of Parliament and parliamentary papers also cost too much, says the report What Price Hansard? by The Hansard Society for Parliamentary Government. The report, by Lord Lester QC, Lindsay Mackie and Michael Renshall, recommends the price of the Commons Hansard drops from u7.50 to u1.07 to reverse a fall in circulation from 10,500 in 1979, to 5,890 in 1993.
