Cameron McKenna has relaunched its north European alliance under the banner The Hansa Law Group.
The alliance was set up on an informal basis two years ago and has since brought together firms from most countries bordering the Baltic Sea.
Berning Schluter Hald in Copenhagen and Tisell & Co in Sweden were founding members, but the group was expanded to include Foresta Bus iness Law Group in Lithuania, Vogt & Co in Norway, Blukis Elksne & Rosenfeld of Latvia and Estonia's Baltic Commercial Law Office.
Robert Windmill, head of Cameron McKenna's central European practice, described the strengthening of the group's ties as “a significant step”, providing clients with “a comprehensive office network in the Baltic area”.
At the time of the announcement, the grouping had no official German member, although Sigle Loose Schmidt-Diemitz & Partners of Stuttgart, which is associated with some of the other member firms in a separate cooperation arrangement, had been invited to join.
The Lawyer has since learnt that Sigle Loose is going to join officially in the next two weeks and will attend Hansa's next meeting on 4 December.
Berlin partner Wolf von Rechenberg, who will represent the German firm at the meeting, said: “We had to make an internal decision about which office we were going to do this from. It was not a discussion of when we were going to join, but how.”
