CMS Cameron McKenna has relocated a Bristol insolvency partner to London and wooed back an old assistant in an attempt to plug the gap left by star restructuring partner Stephen Foster, who went to Lovells.

Peter Wiltshire, a corporate recovery partner based in Bristol, has moved to the firm’s London office as its fifth partner.

Ashley Smith, who left Camerons’ corporate recovery, restructuring and insolvency team for Clifford Chance two years ago, will rejoin the firm as a partner in July.

While Smith is reportedly a popular and talented lawyer, Camerons’ lack of success in securing a new partner to replace Foster is indicative of the current massive demand for insolvency experts.

Foster’s departure was a big blow to Camerons, particularly as it was only around six months after insolvency partner Dan Hamilton defected to White & Case.
