Morgan Cole has snared Leo Abse & Cohen partner Claire Johnson to lead its private client offering in Wales.

Johnson was previously at Beachcroft in London before joining Leo Abse in 2004. She is a member of Solicitors for the Elderly and a Mencap-approved expert on legal issues affecting older clients. Morgan Cole chairman Robin Havard said: “With a wealth of experience, Claire’s a welcome addition to the team as we look to further develop our private client portfolio in Wales. Her specific knowledge of tax planning will further complement the expertise of our private client team.”
Salans has hired Dan Larkin to lead its global hospitality group in London. Larkin has joined from Squire Sanders Hammonds legacy firm Squire Sanders & Dempsey, where he was the co-head of the European real estate finance practice.
Winston & Strawn has boosted its London IP offering with a double swoop from Taylor Wessing. Richard Price and Gareth Morgan were both partners at the City firm.
Reynolds Porter Chamberlain has hired Mayer Brown senior associate Stephen Smith as a partner in its City competition practice. Smith previously worked in the London and Brussels offices of Slaughter and May and at Ofcom.
Linklaters managing associate Digby Hebbard has joined Trowers & Hamlins as a partner in its projects and construction group. Hebbard led the construction disputes practice at Linklaters.
Kingsley Napley has hired Butcher Burns associate Lucy Thomas as a senior associate in its dispute resolution practice. Thomas is the fourth lawyer to join the team in the past six months.
Oxford firm Henmans has made two appointments. George Awty has joined as a partner in the agricultural property team from Speechly Bircham, while assistant Kylie Morsley has joined from Thomas Eggar and will work in the employment group.
Hertfordshire firm Debenhams Ottaway has promoted Claire Sharp to partner in its trusts, tax planning, wills and probate department.
Bury firm Clough & Willis has named head of commercial property Paul Breedon as its new senior partner. Breedon will take over immediately and succeeds Richard Rouse, who passed away in September.
